Violence on TV

My thoughts on the amount of violence on TV varies.  There are some shows that I would say could be considered too violent but there are people who like them and if that is what they like then so be it.  I don't really think there is too much violence.  The reason these shows have so much violence is because it is interesting and enjoyable for some people to watch and they make money off of them.  The show I chose to do is Supernatural, which is a show about 2 brothers who travel across the country and hunt down paranormal and haunted things.  I don't think that there is too much violence in this show, but there is certainly a fair amount.  I believe that 14 is the appropriate age to watch this show because that is the advised audience to watch it.

Cinco De Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that is celebrated by the Mexican culture.  The holiday itself is in celebration of the victory at the Battle of Puebla, where the Mexicans defeated Napoleon III and the French forces.  Pretty much anybody can celebrate this day, but mainly it is for anyone with a Mexican heritage or someone whose significant other is of Mexican descent.  I do not believe this should become a national holiday, or that it ever will.  It doesn't make much sense for the US to make it a holiday because we were not involved in the battle and it had really no effect on us.

Prom

To me I think prom is a fun time if you go with a date and with the right group of people.  If you have a girlfriend it can be a lot of fun but if you are a loner than it would suck.  Last year I went without a date, but I went with a bunch of friends so it wasn't bad at all.  Sure it costs a lot of money and all, but you only get to do it a few times in your life.  I didn't go to after prom last year, so I don't really know about how much fun that is.  But everyone says it is a blast so I guess I'm excited to go.

Earth Day

So apparently this Wednesday is Earth Day.  Earth Day really does not mean that much to me.  It's pretty much just a day for people to act like they are green and do good for the earth.  I personally have never participated in any kind of Earth Day celebration.  A few cool things that I found about Earth Day that I didn't know before are:
1. It was first celebrated April 22, 1970
2. It was originally only celebrated in the US until around 1990 and then it was recognized worldwide
3. It was founded by Gaylord Nelson.
A couple of things we could do to celebrate earth day or plant a plant, and clean up some trash outside around your area.

Spring Break

Over spring break I really did not accomplish a whole lot.  I stayed at home alone and relaxed pretty much the whole time.  On Thursday I had a morning baseball practice and after that I went to the airport to surprise my girlfriend who was getting back from Florida.  The next day I went with her and her family to Indianapolis for her final cheer competition of the season.  Indianapolis is a really nice city that seems really clean and I got to explore the competition center where they performed at.  So all in all my spring break was really enjoyable.

Pencil

People began painting pencils yellow in the 1890's.  The European producer Koh-I-Noor was the first to produce the yellow pencil.  The traditional yellow pencil is not my usual writing instrument of choice.  In my opinion mechanical pencils are far superior to them, but I like using pens more myself.  I really don't doodle that much because I never really acquired the skill to be a good doodler.  The only time I think to use a pencil instead of a pen during the day is when I go to math class in case I make mistakes.  I believe that yellow pencils will always be around because they have been around this long and so many people still use them today.

March Madness

What I have chosen to blog about today is the 2015 Men's Division 1 College Basketball Tournament.  I have filled out probably 6 brackets with a different champion in each of them.  The real bracket that I believe will win me money has Wisconsin as the winner.  On one of my brackets that I filled out on my phone I am ranked 48,564 nationally out of millions and am in the 96th percentile for being correct.  So far my good brackets are in good shape and hopefully they remain good throughout the rest of the tournament.
